The plugin presented in this post is outdated. Please check our new post on how to share a draft in WordPress.
It can be a bit of hassle if you want to share a draft post with someone, because they’ll have to become users on your website, which can be a bit complicated for some, and you’ll probably have to spend some time guiding them. Or perhaps you just don’t want them to become users on your website in order to see your draft.
By default, WordPress doesn’t have a feature to share a draft, but, fortunately, there’s a simple and awesome plugin you can use.
Share a WordPress draft with WP-DraftsForFriends
WP-DraftsForFriends is a straightforward and constantly maintained plugin, which will easily allow you to share a draft post. Basically, what it does is to generate a unique link which someone can use to preview your post.
What I love about this plugin is that it lets you set an expiry time for the link!
Let’s see how to use it
1. After you install it, go to Posts -> Drafts for Friends.
2. Once there, choose the draft you want to share from the list of available drafts. I only have one draft in my example.
3. Choose how long do you want to share it for before the link expires;
4. Now press the “Go” button, and the unique link will be created and ready to be shared.
There’s one more feature that I also enjoy very much at this plugin. If you take a look under the link that was created, you’ll notice a button called “Extend”, which allows you to extend the amount of time before the link expires. Pretty cool, huh?
For me, this is a very cool plugin with helpful features, and I hope you’ll enjoy it too, if you decide to use it!
That’s a wrap
Hope you enjoyed the post and found it useful!
