I really like having a word count for my WordPress posts, and I panicked a bit when I didn’t spot it quickly in the Gutenberg editor – which I like, by the way.

In the classic editor, it’s right at the bottom.

In the Gutenberg editor, the location changed.

You can now find the word count at the top, by clicking on the Content structure icon.

The Gutenberg editor doesn’t only show you the word count, it also shows you the number of:

  • Headings;
  • Paragraphs;
  • Blocks;

So, it offers a bit more info than the classic editor, which is nice.

That’s a wrap

Hope you found the post useful!
