WordPress has a feature, which is enabled by default, that allows the authors to get an email notification every time there’s a new comment on their posts, but if the posts get a lot of comments, that could fill up the inbox and become annoying.

Luckily, there’s a very easy way to disable that feature, and I’ll show you how in this article.

How to disable the comment notification email

After you log in to your WordPress Dashboard, in Settings -> Discussion, you’ll find a feature called Email me whenever. That feature has two options:

  1. Anyone posts a comment – When this option is enabled, every comment posted will generate an email and send it to the author of that post.
  2. A comment is held for moderation – Since spam will never end, I assume most of you are holding your comments for moderation. Obviously, if this option is enabled, it will send an email notification, letting you know that a comment is held for moderation. This will send a notification at the email found in Settings -> General.

In order to disable one or both of these options, just go to Settings -> Discussion and uncheck the boxes in front of them:

Press “Save Changes” and you’re done!

Note that this won’t disable the comments notification inside your WordPress Dashboard as well!
