We’ve used BackWPup on every site we’ve worked on. It’s a good and reliable backup plugin, but since nothing’s perfect, issues like “ERROR: Could not generate a WordPress export file.” can occur.

This error doesn’t occur on every site. For example, we only experienced it here, on ThemeSkills.

The solution is extremely simple and works for most people.

“ERROR: Could not generate a WordPress export file.” solution

1. Let’s say you already have a Job created. Go to Jobs and Copy it:

2. Now Delete the first Job:

3. Then Run the copied Job:

That’s it! Told you it was really simple.

Note: There might be a slight chance that this won’t work from the first try. If that’s the case, you need to repeat the process.
